Here is the release of 001, the debut EP from London-based producer Clas Tuuth. The five tracks here travel between electronic genres touching on techno, garage, and hip-hop, all wrapped up in his signature waves of cinematic darkness, static and noise.
If you’re familiar with his remix of Rozi Plain’s “See My Boat” last year, which enjoyed radio play on 6music and Xfm, the EP’s shifts between darker and lighter touches will come as no
surprise, nor will the patchwork of field recordings, synths and programmed clicks, drum snaps and layers of percussion used to create his sound.
The first in a series of EPs for NeedNoWater, 001 contains five original tracks:
Sketch – a laidback 2step-inspired track, with warm textures of bass and wooden percussion.
Octagons – a dark, harsh and cinematic track, with a slow build throughout.
North – a minimal, lo-fi head-nodding beat.
South – a shuffling lullaby and counterpart to North.
Glass – industrial, dark and addictive, featuring guest vocals from label-mate Catriona Irving.
